McCoy's Law of System Components
Any upgrade to even the cheapest of the system components will result in the need to replace the entire system (i.e., adding a new needle to the record player means you will need to replace the turntable, the amplifier and the speakers.)
Corollaries:
Once all the system is replaced, the medium will become obsolete (i.e., digital will replace records).
